Today, on this very day, a royal decree was sent out, by me, to me, that today shall be declared a day for me! Yes, I said a day for me!! (I did not even make my bed!) After an extremely busy past few months, which included my youngest brothers engagement and a two week speaking and music tour with a group from NBBI, I felt the need to just have a day to do what I want. Selfish? I don’t believe so. I have fully come to realize that it is of utmost importance that we each take a day sometime that focuses on us. It is a way to relieve stress, to relax, to think, to restore, and to just have some plain old fun.
So, I decided upon two things that I thoroughly enjoy, singing and baking. What is more joyful and calming than creating wonderful eats while praising the Lord!? The aromas alone are most satisfying. The finished products: 2 loaves of bread, bran/carrot/apple muffins, and a pecan pie. I will get us some lunch now and then I will ponder what the rest of the day will hold. It might take me all day to slowly think of what I might do next, but I will do what I want to do when I want to do it. It is great to have a no-expectations-day. Tomorrow, I will be ready to go again. For now, the Lord has given me this rainy day to just rest and enjoy the things He has exceedingly abundantly blessed me with.
I encourage you all to try one of these days. It is so worth it. I wish I had started this many years ago. Well, I’m off to finish my day for me!
